2013…so far…

Posted: May 22, 2013 in Uncategorized

A lot of times, I think I can do something pretty easily and I completely under-estimate how long it will take.  Tonight (Wednesday) is service at The Launch and I thought it would be a great idea to reflect on this year and everything we’ve done.  I also thought it would be really easy.  “Oh, that’ll only take me an hour or so.”  Or seven.  (No, I’m not joking.  It took me about seven hours to get it right, and uploaded.)

I worked all evening last night (until 2:00am!) and I’m tired.  Not just because Gavin now has strep throat and I only got three hours of sleep, but I’m tired because we’ve done a LOT OF STUFF this year!  I’m the kind of person that always over-schedules myself for things.  I always think I can do more, push further and harder and in the end, I spend a lot of time almost disappointed in myself because somehow I undershot the mark.

I felt like that a week or so ago, and then last night, I started going through pictures, and Facebook accounts, and home videos and cell videos and tried to put it all together to celebrate all we’ve accomplished in 2013.  All I can say is WOW…It’s been a crazy awesome ride so far and it still feels like we’re just getting started, but…no wonder I’m exhausted!

In January, we started something new called 3-D Connect, where we’d stay after church every 4th Sunday and hang out, maybe order pizza and play some games.  They’ve been a pretty big hit and we’ve certainly had some laughs over games of SPOONS!

In February, we “attempted” to go to a Tobymac concert.  We ended up waiting outside in the cold for over two hours and the concert sold out.  So we decided bowling would be just as fun…and it was!

We also travelled to the International Apostolic Fellowship conference in Pigeon Forge, TN in February.  This was our first big over-night trip with a group of students this size.  We barely took any pictures because we were so busy chasing students around!  It was definitely the biggest thing we’ve ever done.  Would we do it all over again?  Probably.  Maybe.  I’d have to think about it… ;)

March was relatively quiet.  We didn’t have any pictures of our Easter Eggstravaganza yet, or the cardboard testimonies, OR the signing performance.  We’ll have to include those when we do the end of the year recap.  (I better pick a few more songs for that video!)

April and May were all about our big Spring series, YOLO.  It’s been an adventure every Wednesday night, and our class has exploded so we’ve been spending a lot of our time trying to connect with all these new faces!  Sprinkled in along the way were our Student Rallys, saying goodbyes, and just general shenanigans that are the norm in a student group.

In the end, watching this video has really motivated me to keep up the energy for the second half of 2013.  We’ve got some BIG stuff coming up…our new room, (buying all new sound, lights, furniture, oh and a second room for all the video games…oh geez…) VBS in June, our next big trip in July (it should be even bigger than IAF!), Back-To-School Rally in August, and our BIG Fall series…which is going to be EPIC!  Think ZOMBIES!  Plus more ConnectPoints, Student Rallys, and anything else we can get into…

Are you ready?  Set?  LET’S GO!

Here’s the video…
